Motorized Drapery in Austin: Sivoia Straight and Curved Tracks
Lutron Sivoia drapery moves custom drapes on a quiet, low-voltage track. Straight or curved, center or single draw, hidden in the ceiling or on the wall. Smarter Homes designs, supplies, installs, and programs it.
Palladiom drapery or Sivoia drapery
Both move fabric you choose, built by a fabricator. We help you pick, and plan for the stack either way.
| Palladiom drapery | Sivoia drapery | |
|---|---|---|
| Look | Slim visible rod | Track hidden in a ceiling pocket or recess, or visible on the wall |
| Track shape | Straight only | Straight or curved (curved pinch pleat) |
| Mounting | Wall | Wall, ceiling, or recessed ceiling |
| Drives | D105, D175 | D105, D145, D175 |
| Pleats | Pinch pleat, ripple fold | Pinch pleat, ripple fold (straight) |
| Draw | Left, right, center, tandem | Left, right, center |
| Best when | The rod is part of the design | The track should disappear, or the wall bends |
Pick the drive by fabric weight
Lutron lists these as maximums on tracks up to 30 feet and asks you to contact them for details. Heavy lined or interlined drapes weigh far more than the fabric bolt suggests, so we weigh the finished drape before choosing the drive.
| Pleat and track | D105 | D145 | D175 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pinch pleat, straight | up to 105 lb | up to 145 lb | up to 175 lb |
| Pinch pleat, curved | up to 60 lb | up to 95 lb | up to 135 lb |
| Ripple fold, straight | up to 70 lb | up to 145 lb | up to 175 lb |
Where the drapes open to
Lutron offers right, left, and center draw, which control where the stack back lays when the drapes open.
Center draw
Two panels part in the middle and stack at both ends. The most common choice for wide windows and glass walls.
Single draw, left
One panel stacks on the left. Good for doors and for walls with space on one side only.
Single draw, right
One panel stacks on the right. The mirror image, chosen by where the room has space for the stack.
Straight, curved, and around the corner
Curved track
Standard 90 degree bends with a 20 inch radius, inside or outside a corner, with custom radii for curved walls and bays. Pulling the track around a corner lets the stack hide beside the window instead of in front of it.
Recessed in a pocket
A ceiling pocket hides the track so only the drape shows. The cleanest look, and it needs to be planned before sheetrock.
Straight on the wall or ceiling
The simplest install. The track sits on the ceiling or wall and a valance or the drape itself covers it.
Hide the track the right way
The best installs start before the walls are closed. Tell us about your project while the framing is open.
Recess into the sheetrock
Cut the sheetrock so the track sits recessed into the ceiling. It reduces what you see, but it does not hide the track completely.
Double the ceiling sheetrock
The most complete hide without a pocket: the builder doubles the sheetrock, then cuts a strip out so the track sits recessed and mounts to the studs.
Build a pocket
Many people prefer a pocket. When the studs do not run in the right direction, a pocket is harder, so the choice depends on the framing. Pockets deserve their own page and we are building one.
Hold the builder to the plan
Tracks, recesses, and pockets only work when the builder cuts and frames them to dimension. An integrator knows the details and writes them into the plan.
Plan the stack
Fabric needs somewhere to go. Decide where the stack sits before you order, so no one asks where the fabric went after it blocks the view.
Custom tracks exist
Specialty track makers, including DEL Motorized Solutions, build bendable and recessed drapery track and cavities in many shapes. Lutron's Sivoia is the Lutron-native system.
Fabric comes from a fabricator
What Lutron supplies
The track, drive, carriers, and mounting. Drapes are not included.
What the fabricator does
Chooses the pleat, sews the drapes, assembles them onto our hardware, dry-fits and tests them, and packages everything.
What we do
We hand the fabricator the track, motor, and parts, then install the finished drapery at your home and program it. We also offer fabric through our partners.
Works with your Lutron system
Sivoia drapery integrates with Caseta, Caseta PRO, RA2 Select, RadioRA 3, HomeWorks QS, and HomeWorks QSX over QS wired or wireless communication, and runs on 35V low-voltage wiring. Pair it with Sivoia QS shades and Palladiom shades so shades and drapes move together.
Try the drape planner
The drape planner sizes a Palladiom track, picks the drive, checks the weight chart, shows the stack, and estimates the Lutron list price. The same stack and weight thinking applies to Sivoia, and we extend it to curved tracks and pockets next.
Sivoia drapery FAQ
What is Sivoia drapery?
Sivoia drapery is Lutron's motorized drapery track system for custom-fabricated drapes. A quiet low-voltage drive moves the drapes along a straight or curved track, and Lutron's controls move them with your shades and lights.
Does Smarter Homes sell and install Sivoia drapery?
Yes. We are a Lutron dealer in Austin. We design the layout, order the Lutron track and drive, coordinate your fabricator, install the track, and program it into your Lutron system.
Does the drapery come with fabric?
No. Lutron supplies the track, motor, and carriers. A fabricator makes the drapes and assembles them onto the hardware, dry-fits and tests the result, and packages it. We install it on site.
Which drive do I need?
It depends on the weight of the finished drapes and the track shape. Lutron lists straight pinch pleat tracks at 105, 145, and 175 lb for the D105, D145, and D175 drives. Curved pinch pleat tracks carry 60, 95, and 135 lb. Ripple fold straight tracks carry 70, 145, and 175 lb.
Can the track be curved?
Yes. Curved tracks bend around inside or outside corners and bay walls. Lutron's standard bend is 90 degrees with a 20 inch radius, and custom radii and angles are available. Curved tracks are available for pinch pleat, not ripple fold.
What is the longest track?
Up to 30 feet. Some D105 curved tracks run up to 18 feet without a splice. Longer tracks ship in two or three sections and splice on site, arranged through Lutron's Shading Quotes Team.
What draw options are there?
Right draw, left draw, and center draw. In center draw the two panels part in the middle. In a single draw the whole drape stacks to one side.
Can I hide the track?
Yes. Sivoia mounts to the wall, to the ceiling, or recessed into the ceiling. Recessing the track into a sheetrock cavity or a pocket hides most or all of it. A pocket built by the builder hides it completely.
What is the best way to hide a drapery track?
A pocket in the ceiling is the cleanest. Where the framing runs the wrong way for a pocket, the builder can double the sheetrock and cut a strip out so the track sits recessed and mounts to the studs. Plan this with your integrator before the sheetrock goes up.
Pinch pleat or ripple fold?
Pinch pleat gives a tailored, classic pleat. Ripple fold gives continuous soft waves and a cleaner top. Ripple fold is available on straight tracks only. Both are custom-fabricated.
Where do the drapes stack when open?
At the ends of the track. The stack grows with fabric weight and fullness. Plan the track so the stack sits beside the window, not over the glass. Our planner shows this for Palladiom drapery, and the same rules apply to Sivoia.
What does Sivoia drapery connect to?
Caseta, Caseta PRO, RA2 Select, RadioRA 3, HomeWorks QS, and HomeWorks QSX, plus standalone wired or wireless controls. It uses 35V low-voltage wiring and QS wired or wireless communication.
What is pull-to-start?
Pull-to-start lets someone nudge the drape by hand and the motor takes over and finishes the movement. It is an option on some Sivoia models.
What warranty applies?
Lutron backs Sivoia drapery with an eight-year limited warranty.
